CAPTURED BY INDIANS A True Account

by | Read by Carrington MacDuffie

Biography & Memoir • 2.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2003

In 1675, during King Philip's War, 37 inhabitants in the settlement of Lancaster, Massachusetts, were attacked by Indians. Mrs. Mary Rowlandson, one of the captured women, recounts her experiences with the Native Americans, which include the death of a child, fleeting meetings with her son, and the vicissitudes of her captors' way of life. Carrington McDuffie richly portrays the myriad of emotions experienced by this early American. As Mrs. Rowlandson intimately experiences a new way of life, she feels initial disdain at Indian behavior, followed by a perplexing change in regard for her captors and a final resolve that her experience is the will of the Lord.
