THE ANIMAL RESCUE CLUB

Young members of the Animal Rescue Club help a squirrel trapped in mud, an opossum stuck in a rooftop gutter, and a goose with a wounded foot in this beginning reader, taking them to a nearby animal hospital where the animals recover until they can be released back into the wild. Andy Paris's pace is leisurely, but expressive, and he creates the sense of real kids talking together. THE RESCUE CLUB has a lot of appealing adventures (all of which are adult free), and parents will need to remind young listeners that both grownups and caution are required when wild animals are involved.
