If his mother had her way, Lewis would only play soccer at home with his bottle cap teams. His studies would take precedence, and she would determine how to remedy his speech impediment and plan his entire future. Praise to the teachers at school who offer Lewis opportunities to excel and to Lewis himself for pursuing his dreams and for confronting his family. Robert Glenister capably differentiates Kebbe's array of distinct characters. Students are exuberant, and adults voice the complexities their experience has brought to bear. In Glenister's hands, Lewis moves from being a timid introvert, engaged in football (soccer) as a spectator, to a confident young person moving toward maturity. A.R.
