THE LUKE REPORTS IV Darkness Comes, Then the Sun

by | Read by a Full Cast

Audio Theater • 1.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2003

[Editor’s Note: THE LUKE REPORTS IV is now available as part of THE LIFE OF JESUS.]--One of the pleasures of radio drama is the sound effects, and those in THE LUKE REPORTS are excellent. Swords clash, daggers are hurled, coins are counted, setting the stage for this final installment of a dramatization of the Gospel of Luke. The writing is solid, though it occasionally repeats things and sometimes overexplains, as if spelling things out for the listener. All the cast members engage the challenging material richly, voicing the conflict between faith and doubt convincingly. The major weakness of the performance is the accents. While they're well done, the mix of American accents with pronounced British accents is distracting and, at times, introduces unintentional humor.
