THE PLAGUE OF SOUND Flash Gordon, Book 2

Johnny Heller's gravelly voice shifts into character mode as he narrates this classic sci-fi story. He uses a Russian accent to portray Dr. Zarkov, Flash Gordon's ally, as part of a range of voices that gives the planet Pandor a full cast of characters. Flash and Dale are enjoying the planet's pastimes until a concert they're attending is hit with a devastating sound wave. Heller's voice takes on a feeling of urgency as the attacks continue and the trail leads to a place called Perfect City, which is far from perfect. Listeners may wish the story had less dialogue and the production had sound effects, but the adventure still captures much of the atmosphere of old-time comics and movie serials.
