MY NAME IS PARVANA The Breadwinner, Book 4

Narrator Meera Simhan establishes a passion-filled voice for Parvana, an Afghan teenage girl who is being held prisoner by American soldiers after the bombing of her beloved school. As they try to get her to talk, all she can think about is her hope for the education and future of all the children in her country. Remembering moments from the past, such as her work in the school, helps Parvana to be brave and resilient during the frightening situation she finds herself in. Simhan creates unique voices for each character, including the harsh voice of Parvana's interrogator, which helps establish her fear.
