THE LITTLE BOOKSHOP ON THE SEINE

Listeners will be transported to the world's most romantic city when Sarah Smith temporarily swaps her small-town American bookshop for one in Paris. She expects a sweet and romantic adventure while strolling the cobblestone streets, but with a surly staff, plummeting sales, a thief in her midst, and an absent boyfriend--her six-month exchange is anything but a holiday. Narrator Sally Scott transitions between a diverse set of New England, English, and Parisian voices, but with some inconsistency in accents. Despite the light plot, the versatile Scott captures Sarah's struggle and the complexity of each secondary character, rescuing the story with an engaging level of emotion and enthusiasm.
