Narrator Neil Hellegers employs a peculiar talent in narrating this thriller: He reads every sentence, even one like "Pass the butter," as if it were a precursor to imminent disaster. Listeners will be on the edge of their seats, desperate to hear what happens next. Ongoing tension is the core of Hellegers's talent. The story's protagonist sounds like your average off-shore fisherman based in the Bahamas, at first. Then, in the usual story arc of a thriller, he stumbles upon treasure (scuba dives into it, actually), uncovers a governmental conspiracy, and finds himself running from villains. Then, it's revealed that he has an edgy past with a murderous skill set. This package is compelling and masterful, a real winner. D.R.W.
