Annie and Jack are at it again, following Morgan le Fay on a seaside adventure. The story is read by Mary Pope Osborne with hushed drama. Little Annie is characterized by a high and squeaky voice; Jack, always the devil's advocate, has a wry and skeptical tone. On the second side of the tape, the siblings go to a haunted ghost town, Rattlesnake Flats, to solve Morgan's second-to-last riddle. They want to get out of town before dark, but Annie is determined to save an orphaned colt. Player piano music of the Old West enhances Side Two. Pope is a quintessential author reader, whose pacing and tone are fitting for her young listeners. A.G.H. (c) AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG/ SEP 04]
