History and theater create a suspenseful mix when a Scottish meteorologist is summoned to the headquarters of the Allied Expeditionary Force on the eve of the massive D-Day invasion of Normandy in June 1944. James Stagg must convince General Dwight D. Eisenhower that they face two enemies—the Nazis and the fickle English weather. The dialogue is tense and convincing as British actor Jonathan Cake leads a stellar cast in this story of how a lone scientist explained to the army’s own weather experts that a sunny day on the English Channel can quickly deteriorate into a fast-moving storm.
