WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE PARROTS

The conventions that gather the fans of a popular TV series are a world of their own in which participants dress as their favorite characters and immerse themselves in their fantasies. Parrots, monkeys, and other creatures wandering free at the convention hotel add to the surreal atmosphere, which is topped off when the main character of the TV series, despised by all, is discovered dead. Bernadette Dunne draws out the humor in this peculiar story without making it ridiculous. She brings out the personalities of this odd collection of characters as they try to solve the murder and bring back some semblance of normalcy. J.E.M.
