NEW WAVES

Three narrators--James Chen, Adenrele Ojo, and Allyson Ryan--ramp up the tension in this literary thriller about an Asian man learning the ropes of life while reeling from the sudden loss of his friend. Margo and Lucas work at a tech company called Nimbus. When Margo is fired, they steal Nimbus's data to get new jobs at a different company. As they settle into their new employment, Margo dies in an accident. Distressed, Lucas thinks there must be more to what happened. Although the plot meanders and disappoints, the narrators elevate the storytelling with their pleasant voices and sometimes playful tones.
