Traditional family values clash with modern day teenaged angst in this touching first-person story of tenth-grader Paul and Nonno, his ailing and forgetful grandfather. Dina Marnika, a native Australian, delivers Paul's adolescent attitude and uncertainty and gives a delightful rendition of Nonno with a perfect Italian accent. Although mostly a serious story, Marnika also serves up Paul's comedic asides adeptly. Lessons of family ties, heritage, and what's important in life are revealed in a clever and witty presentation. The narrator and author are well matched as story and characterization come together flawlessly. Unexpected plot twists and down under humor make this audiobook very entertaining.
