Listeners are transported to Moquoia's divided society by narrators Chelsea Stephens, Lauren Ezzo, and Matthew Frow. Despite being separated by miles, a diplomat, an outlaw, and a prisoner pursue their unique yet aligned destinies to right the injustices of the world. All three narrators embody the characters they portray, utilizing a variety of voices and accents to showcase a large cast and immerse listeners in the story's strict social hierarchy and heavy atmosphere. Frow uses a tone that contrasts Veran's intellectual persona with the brutishness of the prince as Veran navigates the injustices of the society he lives in. Overall, the narrators expertly depict Lark's, Tamsin's, and Veran's unique qualities, and their authentic-sounding portrayals make for a great listener experience.
