Since Mary Porter-Malcolm is the child of two literature professors, it is no surprise that she has a penchant for the written word. Despite using her knowledge of classic literature to help her new friends develop the Scoundrel Survival Guide, Mary finds herself warming up to a modern-day rake. Keating's performance breathes life into the teenager's world, capturing Mary's relationship naïveté and friendship uncertainties. Portraying the eclectic cast of characters with unique voices, Keating further draws the listener into Mary's college town, making this an enjoyable listen, especially for fans of both romance and classic literature.
