IF MY HEART HAD WINGS

Author/narrator Nadine Taylor tells this bittersweet fictionalized version of her mother's life as a WWII widow. Taylor was 14 years old when she discovered an old wedding picture of her mother and a mysterious man. Listeners will join Taylor as she learns that her mom's first husband was Linden Raff, a pilot who died flying munitions around Asia. Taylor's voice mirrors the 1940s and a loving relationship as she later researches Raff's life and family. Much of the story is vibrant conversation, which highlights civilian and military life, including descriptions of Raff's flights and crashes. Taylor movingly describes her brave and resourceful mother returning pictures, medals, and letters to Raff's family and sadly concludes that her mother might have been happier with Raff than her alcoholic, bullying husband.
