THE HUNDREDTH MAN

by | Read by Dick Hill

Mystery & Suspense • 4 hrs. • Abridged • © 2004

With a healthy mix of police procedural and forensic science, this taut thriller is set to satisfy. Veteran narrator Dick Hill easily captures the personalities of a wide range of characters. As the junior police detective Carson Ryder, Hill takes on a smooth Southern drawl peppered with an attitude of confidence. Also impressive is his portrayal of the young female pathologist struggling with alcohol addiction. The only flaw in this recording is the use of a special effect during the playback from Ryder's answering machine. This reviewer found the technique to be more of a disruption of the story than an enhancement. K.M.D. (c) AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 04/ JAN 05]
