This Stephanie Plum adventure puts the heroine in supreme danger as the target of the cruelest street gang in Trenton. Aside from this threat, her home life is marred by her sister's wedding plans and her own personal need to hide from the worst trouble of her life. Although Lorelei King has a lyrical voice, it doesn’t seem to buy in to the story, so she doesn’t succeed in getting into the meat of the plot or characters. While she expends energy giving each character a different vocal sound, she offers them no humanity, merely raucous tones. Her delivery needs considerably heightened suspense to carry the listener along. J.P. © AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/ NOV 04]
