MY BRILLIANT LIFE

Kim's beautifully written novel is exquisitely brought to life by Raymond J. Lee's performance. He embodies the voice of 16-year-old Areum, who, as a victim of progeria (premature aging), lives an isolated life with humor, compassion, and a love of stories. As Areum, Lee speaks directly to the listener, sharing stories of "the world's youngest parents of the world's oldest child." His voice is full of curiosity as he questions his parents about their past, present, and dreams, material for a manuscript he plans to give them on his upcoming birthday. His interactions with his neighbor and best friend, Little Grandpa Jang, and email correspondence with a girl his age highlight the human yearning for connection in the most isolating circumstances.
