In this fascinating tale of a voyage to the icy waters of the Svalbard archipelago, Wale imbues Nick Allen with charm and dispassion. Nick is attempting to find out what happened to his friend, Guy Edwardes, who sailed to the Arctic alone and came back to commit suicide. Karen, Guy's longtime partner, accompanies Nick.
