LOST IN PARIS

Narrators Emily Tremaine and Imogen Church introduce listeners to an antagonistic mother and daughter and a long-lost relative whose life provides stunning surprises. Hannah flees Florida and her alcoholic mother, Marla, for London. When Marla appears at Hannah's London flat unannounced, Hannah worries about the damage Marla will do. Tremaine delivers a feisty Hannah but offers little differentiation between Hannah and Marla, and her accents--Scots, British, and French-- are uneven. When the pair discover they've inherited Hannah's great-grandmother Ivy's Paris flat, which contains paintings, a diary, a manuscript, and many secrets--everything changes. Church's performance of Ivy is flawless. Her voice is smooth, and her interpretations of expats Ernest Hemingway, Zelda Fitzgerald, and Gertrude Stein are completely credible.
