Pat Buchanan reads with the same vigor and passion that animate his television appearances. Still, his narration is stilted in places. He seems more comfortable with the pen or with the quick interjection on television than in reading long passages. Buchanan attacks Bush's foreign and domestic policy, Congressional leadership, and federal judges. He also discusses the history of Islam and the Bush administration's misunderstanding of it. Strongly and tersely arguing against Republican policy, he asserts that Republicans have abandoned true conservatism. While his narration is a little staccato at times, it's pure Pat Buchanan. He understands the tenor of his text and generally communicates it. M.L.C. © AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine [Published: JUNE/JULY 05]
