The scientist who created the ray fears for her life and calls upon an investigator to help. Ferrone imbues the story with the levity that complements the dark, complex narrative. The unnamed narrator's clichéd PI voice works well in the face of jaw-dropping twists and sci-fi technology. Ferrone's performance struggles under the burden of complicated world-building but produces a unique experience for dedicated listeners.
