In their introduction, the two authors engage in banter about their personal relationship and professional collaboration, after which narrator Terrence Kidd delivers the well-organized chapters of this audiobook. Kidd narrates with intellectual clarity, though his tone sounds overly serious, even for an important behavioral science book about how group membership can impact an individual's beliefs, loyalties, and moral principles. In the studies cited, even a temporary affiliation with a social group was found to change the way individuals view themselves and the external world. This area of study seems especially relevant to the way political and interest groups in many countries have become doctrinaire and polarized. These groups resist collaboration with other groups and don't allow independent thinking among their own members. T.W. © AudioFile 2021, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2021]
