TIME OUT OF MIND

When a middle-aged single actress beats the odds and survives a cerebral hemorrhage, she struggles miserably to put her life back together. This memoir of her difficult two-year struggle to resume normal life is both depressing and inspirational. We suffer with the author as she describes the distress of appearing to be recovered but actually suffering from anger, fatigue, and loss of identity--typical personality changes in cerebral hemorrhage survivors. As a stage actress in London, Lapotaire is unusually well qualified to record her own memoirs. Her emotions, from awe to tenderness to anger, are sincere but not muddled.
