Ireland captivates listeners as she portrays Merit, a married mother of two who's lost her identity and feels trapped. She experiences a much needed spark once she returns to her career and finds herself working with a beautiful Danish architect named Jane. Jane is convincingly portrayed with a slight Danish accent, a mature timbre, and a self-assured tone. Ireland's narration tugs at listeners' heartstrings as Merit and Jane develop a close friendship that slowly and tenderly develops into something more. Embodying the messiness of the characters and their lives, Ireland shows off her talents for rendering deeply complex, imperfect people with finesse. A moving, introspective listening journey.
