JUDGMENT CALLS

Alafair Burke's fast-paced, plot-driven legal thriller introduces Deputy District Attorney Samantha "Sam" Kincaid, who works in Portland's Drug and Vice Division. Written in a crisp first person, liberally injected with good-natured humor, and laden with detail that tightly blends courtroom drama and criminal investigation, the production is perfect for the vocal talent of Betty Bobbitt. Bobbitt provides teen attitude as easily as a distasteful voice for the crude Senior Deputy DA. Kincaid, the stubborn idealist, and Kendra Martin, a 13-year-old who has been prostituting herself to support a heroin habit, are presented vividly.
