LITTLE GENTLEMAN

When elderly Mr. Franklin is injured, he asks young Bet for a strange favor: to go into the meadow to read a book about earthworms--not TO him, but FOR him. This quirky British tale of the little gentleman--an ancient mole who can talk and has other magical powers--is oddly engaging. The spell that it casts over listeners is enhanced by the narration of Gerard Doyle. His Mr. Franklin is gruff, his Bet is young and sincere, and his mole is the essence of the little gentleman.
