World War III has ended, and nations unite under The New World Order to abolish war. Religion, considered the most serious threat to world peace, is outlawed. Paul Stepola, of the National Peacekeeping Organization, is determined to expose and destroy "religious fanatics"; that is, until he has an experience similar to that of the biblical Saul, on the road to Tarsus. Pete Bradbury narrates in a calm, easy manner, moving seamlessly between characters of varying ages and both genders as the tension mounts. The pacing is taut, the plot believable, and Bradbury's delivery impeccable. Yet the story fails to achieve the drama of Jenkins's Left Behind series.
