In the introduction and early chapters of HEARING GOD, Grover Gardner's narration doesn't change much. In a straightforward and almost distant fashion, he simply lays out the terms that author Dallas Willard will be using to guide listeners in how to hear God. Listening only to this first section might mislead some, as Gardner really enters into his narration from the book's middle section on. When Willard tackles challenges, such as distinguishing between one's own thoughts, spiritual temptations, and divine inspirations, Gardner uses his polished tones to help distinguish among the choices, strengthening the prose with his emphasis and cadence.
