CANDLE FOR A CORPSE

In Granger's Meredith and Markby mystery, a corpse is unearthed in a graveyard, and locals finally learn the fate of poor Kimberly, a child nobody wanted. Markby must interrupt his vacation to investigate, and Meredith also plunges into the case. Judith Boyd is engaging as she skillfully portrays each character. As suspects and rumors run rampant, Boyd rises to every challenge and unfailingly conveys tragedy, illness, and mental anguish. Her young, old, male, and female creations are memorable and believable. However, her greatest talent lies in retelling the story in a way that makes listeners feel privy to the many twists and turns of a tragedy, despite its having occurred twelve years earlier.
