THE FUGITIVE PIGEON

Earphones Award Winner

by | Read by Nick Sullivan

Mystery & Suspense • 4.75 HRS. • Unabridged • © 1965

As with all Westlake's mysteries, this story is laced with intricate plotting and hilarious incidents. Charlie Poole is unaccomplished as a human being, tending bar and happy in Brooklyn, when two men break into his life, and he realizes that he is about to be the object of murder. To pair author Westlake with reader Nick Sullivan is a slick move. Sullivan reads with ingenuous unsophistication. His narrative projects the author's zany sense of humor, and the whole production is a delight. Written in 1965, this is a clean and fast story. A true entertainment. J.P. Winner of AUDIOFILE Earphones Award. © AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB/MAR 00]
