HOLE IN ONE

This is not the first mystery to feature murder on a golf course, but it may be the most improbable. Aird's small-town police procedurals featuring CD Sloan are all tongue-in-cheek, but this one is over the top. Bruce Montague handles the greensward murder and subsequent confusion with aplomb, keeping the plot and characters well in hand. Each major character has a distinct voice with subtle gradations. CD Sloan's voice, for example, differs depending on whether he is speaking to his superior or to his subordinates.
