Lt. Eve Dallas is back, this time to solve a crime to which she is personally connected. Trudy Lombard, abusive foster mother to Dallas when she was 12 years old, has been murdered following a threat of blackmail. The usual cast of characters, including Roarke, Eve's husband, helps to crack the case, using intuition, high tech gadgetry, and good police work. Ericksen reads the dialog in a punchy style that suits the writing and her pace matches the excitement of the action. Her accents are good, especially Roarke's Irish brogue, but some of the others are a bit over-the-top. Fans of this series will appreciate the performance and those new to it might be tempted to listen to the earlier books. S.S.R. © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/ MAY 06]
