ROSIE

Here is an author reading his own book in a way that makes it sound as if it were a part of his personal history come to life. Rosie is an 87-year-old grandmother who is not ready to call a halt to living an active life. Her plans include flirting with younger men, drinking and dancing through the night, and learning to sail. Titchmarsh puts himself into each voice with vim and provides immediate recognition of the book's characters. His range includes a passage from an antique travel book, which he reads with an elderly quaver befitting the book's origin. Sometimes it's not wise for an author to narrate his own book.
