Barbara Pym successfully recreates a bygone era, class and lifestyle which few can relate to--particularly Americans. She supplies readers with a kind of time travel back to the days when the Church of England, priests, gentry, Mass, good works and gossip were the chief pastimes of village life. Jameson does a great job reading, especially with the annoying snobbishness of the main character, Wilmet Forsyth. Jameson enhances the text by handling Pym's farce and satire beautifully. An apt selection for British collections and sophisticated listeners. S.G.B. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT 95]
