THE SURPRISE PARTY AND KEEPING COTTON TAIL

Paradise House, the apartment complex that is home to friends Nathan, Anna, and Danny, is the setting for these two adventures. Sophie Aldred's voice easily alternates between the children and adults as the adventures unfold. In the first story, the children are freed from attending the dreaded summer holiday club when two sisters who also live at Paradise House agree to baby-sit for them. In the second story, a neighbor's rabbit brings the children together as they plot to figure out a way to keep the pet. Aldred's exuberant children, pushy building superintendent, stern but loving parents, and tentative, wistful elderly neighbors all sound like they could live down the hall or across the street.
