13 PAIRS OF BLUE SUEDE SHOES

by | Read by Clare Corbett

Children Ages 8+ • 1.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2003

Poor Sam is elated about her school trip to Barcelona, but then she learns that one of the fund-raisers for the trip is a cabaret at which her dad and his Welsh male choir will perform. How embarrassing! Narrator Clare Corbett is wonderful as Sam and her friends, and outstanding as various parents, especially the cabaret's hostess. Things only get worse for Sam when a dad/Elvis impersonator persuades the male choir to join him as 13 back-up Elvises. When Sam gets a sore throat, Corbett portrays one of the best "sick kid" voices ever. The story is lots of fun, and kids will observe that there's a difference between laughing at and laughing with.
