THE OLIVE HARVEST

British actress Carol Drinkwater is best known to Americans for her role as Helen Herriot in the beloved "All Creatures Great and Small." In the third in her series of memoirs about her life on a Provence olive farm, a car accident injures husband Michel. Its repercussions damage the couple's relationship, and Carol is left alone to contend with insects, wild boars, and other problems. This is a more dramatic, personal story than similar memoirs of Brits who move to the Continent. Drinkwater's narration begins professionally in a British accent. Her tone gradually gives way to the dramatic emotions in the story. While humorous in places, the memoir is shaped by the surprising turns in the author's life.
