BUCK FEVER

While this debut comic mystery occasionally bogs down and seems forced, often it's just plain laugh-out-loud funny. Game Warden John Marlin and Sheriff Herbert Mackey start the craziness when they investigate inept poachers who accidentally shoot both a guy wearing a doe costume and a crazy-acting trophy buck. Jonathan Davis confidently and smoothly reads the many nutty events and hilarious situations taking place in Blanco County, Texas. He uses an excellent Texas accent when needed, finds unique voices for the weird characters like Billy Don and Red, and generally adds to the wacky atmosphere.
