JAMES MARSHALL’S CINDERELLA

Popular children’s illustrator Marshall gently brings this old favorite to life once more with his simple pictures. Given their cartoon style and humor, there’s never any doubt about this story’s happy ending, even when Cinderella is forced to labor by her mean-spirited stepsisters. Stephanie J. Block narrates the tale in a gentle, steady voice that easily creates a variety of fun characters. Block’s voice is pleasing to the ear, and her pacing and excellent expression guide listeners’ reactions as the story unfolds. Light sound effects and musical touches add to this familiar story without being distracting. Young children will enjoy this retelling and the funny, colorful illustrations Marshall provides.
