DELTA BELLES

by | Read by Karen White

Fiction • 11.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2006

A college reunion brings four former college roommates together. Karen White gives voice to each of the diverse personalities--from Rae Dawn, a New Orleans R&B star, to Delta Ballou, who launches a folk group called the Delta Belles as a prank. White even lightens the accent of the twin who fled her Southern hometown after her sister stole her fiancé. The reunion at Mississippi College for Women brings the foursome back together and sets the stage for Delta's listening to the tribulations of her classmates and finally revealing the trauma of witnessing her husband's death. White's descriptions of the Delta Belles' '60s tunes and Rae Dawn's compositions are terrific and could only be improved by actual music.
