Listening to this compelling lesson will explain why the book has been praised as one of the most helpful teen parenting guides ever written. Starting with the premise that teen brains are impaired, the author advises parents to implement realistic standards and consistent oversight practices that take this into account. Police-like tactics are minimized in favor of interventions that communicate structure and provide a safety net when a teen is in danger. David Kropp's approach to this material is friendly and appealing to hear. But his youthful voice has a naïve quality that does not project the tone of confidence that parent listeners need to hear in order to trust in the material.
