Morrell's espionage thriller is a demanding work that requires concentration. George Ralph is an excellent reader, but he doesn't provide accents or tones for the many characters. That and the slow-moving, convoluted plot make Night and Fog a book that may be easier to read than to listen to. The complex sequel to THE FRATERNITY OF THE STONE is four separate but related stories about murderous Catholic priests, former Nazi SS officers, and a group of Jewish death camp survivors. Toss in the CIA, the Mossad, and other spy groups, and it becomes too hard to keep the characters straight. Still, the story is worth the effort.
