Author Tara Moss, a former international model, narrates her own novel about a young woman who is attacked and then must testify against the homicidal maniac who did it, Ed Brown. Moss reads the dialogue and story in a calm professional voice. Makedde (Mak) Vanderwall, the victim, and her boyfriend, Detective Andy Flynn, are well-developed, likable characters. Moss’s flat, high-pitched tones for Brown perfectly convey the psychopathic workings of his obsessive mind. When Brown escapes from prison, the tension in Moss’s voice ratchets up. The novel is dark and dangerous, and Moss’s pacing and precision give the telling extra oomph. Listeners will be loath to turn this off. Don’t miss it.
