GILDA JOYCE AND THE LADIES OF THE LAKE

In this charming sequel to GILDA JOYCE: PSYCHIC INVESTIGATOR, free spirit Gilda has mixed emotions when she lands a scholarship to the prestigious Our Lady of Sorrows school, where she will need to wear a uniform and conform to rules along with the other students. Jessica Almasy is expert in her portrayals of parents and a gushing Southern headmistress. Further, her characterization of the girls is outstanding, especially when they read notes in school. Things heat up when Gilda investigates a drowning that is the result of a school hazing. Overall, the focus is on the teen challenges of absent parents, broken families, and other aspects of contemporary life. This is a timely and fascinating choice for young listeners.
