GUY DE MAUPASSANT STORIES

De Maupassant's short stories are considered by many to be his best work and to be among the classics of French literature. Sixteen delicious nuggets are collected here. However, Flo Gibson charges through the tales full speed ahead, barely stopping between stories, never mind between sentences. The listener is occasionally at a loss to figure out where one tale ends and the next begins. The breakneck pace diminishes the otherwise interesting reading, which is characterized by Gibson's rich, quavering voice and her excellent rendering of French phrases and words.
