KEEPER OF THE KEYS

Dick Hill and Laural Merlington deliver an unusual audio opening. Merlington begins by reading the part of Lee, a woman confused by her husband Ray's sudden remoteness. Hill breaks into Merlington's narration to read the parts of Ray, and soon the dialogue ignites into argument when Lee voices concern about Ray's fixation on his mysterious past. This paired reading continues throughout the audio as if to balance the story's themes of estrangement and secrets. Two voices work better than one to increase the tension when Lee vanishes and to represent the many levels of this mystery in which finding truth and meaningful relationships is as central to resolution as locating the missing character.
