The author combines two disparate stories: one of Guglielmo Marconi, the Italian discoverer of radio waves, and the other of an English doctor who poisoned his unfaithful wife. The stories converge on a ship with the doctor fleeing justice while his getaway is broadcast to the world via the new wireless transmissions. Tony Goldwyn keeps himself in the background by adopting a conversational manner so natural one almost forgets he’s there. He uses skillful pauses and changes in tone to emphasize and minimize certain passages, the beneficial result of familiarity with the script. Goldwyn renders the imaginative mixture of discovery and true crime into a pleasurable and educational experience. J.A.H. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB/ MAR 07]
