It's every parent's nightmare--looking out to the backyard to find that the children are missing. To make matters worse, their mother, Nancy Harmon, becomes the prime suspect. Years before, her two children died under mysterious circumstances. Narrator Margot Dionne uses a soft, modulated voice to keep control of the mounting terror as Nancy searches for the toddlers. Dionne paces the building tension perfectly without giving in to the hysteria as Nancy closes in on the kidnapper, who is known to her, and alas, before the climax, to the listener as well. It's interesting to compare this early Higgins Clark work with the more mature work of the Queen of Suspense. M.T.B. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/ NOV 07]
